Literacyworks Staff

Paul Heavenridge, Executive Director has an extensive background in educational technology design and delivery. As an instructional designer, he is most excited about Web based delivery of literacy material to learners in multiple learning styles through hypermedia.

Martin Ferrini, Web Technologist has over a decade of experience with web design, development, user interface and is deeply involved with all web related aspects of every Literacyworks project.

Kathy St. John, Program & Training Coordinator assists in conducting needs assessments; in organizing and managing training schedules with the states and outlying areas, including Learning to Achieve training; and gathering data for measures concerning training, information dissemination and partnerships; She also conducts LINCS AEPD training; helps design on-line training material for virtual learning; and oversees Literacyworks grant development.

Dr. Carole Talan, Director of Training and Programs is a Literacy Specialist retired in 2004 from the California State Library and has dedicated over 25 years to working in the fields of adult and family literacy. A former teacher and college professor and an internationally recognized literacy administrator and trainer, Dr. Talan has published numerous books, curriculum guides and articles about literacy, coordinated literacy research, and produced three highly successful documentary short films on adult literacy.
